Absolutely true, and I understand customer retention. Considering Netflix’ invested time and resources as described in the article (design, development, compute, delivery, QA and maintenance), my question is about ROI. For this practice it must be quite difficult to measure and validate. I.e., when we don’t target artwork to user, customers suddenly begin cancelling subs.
